I caught this out of the apartment window. Circumhorizontal Arc? While I am not sure its the real thing it looks good. A circumhorizontal arc is an optical phenomenon – an ice-halo formed by plate-shaped ice crystals in high level cirrus clouds – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumhorizontal_arc

Its a very rare event and some have said that when you see one rain will be here in 24 hours or worse, an earth quake is due. None the less this rainbow cloud or Circumhorizontal Arc looks cool.

Navajo National Monument preserves three of the most intact cliff dwellings of the ancestral Puebloan people (Hisatsinom). The Navajo people who live here today call these ancient ones Anasazi. Navajo Bridge crosses the Colorado River’s Marble Canyon near Lee’s Ferry in the U.S. state of Arizona. Apart from the Glen Canyon Bridge a few miles upstream at Page, Arizona, it is the only roadway crossing of the river and the Grand Canyon for nearly 600 miles (970 km). Spanning Marble Canyon, the bridge carries northbound travelers to southern Utah and to the Arizona Strip, the otherwise inaccessible portion of Arizona north of the Colorado River, which includes the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navajo_Bridge

Its worth the long drive from Page to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon just so you can pass over this iconic bridge and the views it offers.

While down on the valley floor at the Monument Valley National Park, you have ample opportunity to take some great photographs, hopefully this was one or the rock face.

The last image in a set of five taken from my apartment in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, all were taken during the first two months of 2011.

This particular one was taken after the sun had set and left me with a silhouette of buildings and bare trees against the colorful evening sky.

The fourth image in a set of five taken from my apartment in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. Like most people in the city who live high up and face south, southwest we have great sunsets and this is just one at the start of the year that I managed to capture.

I was out at Monument Valley on the Utah, Arizona border late last year and took this image while down on the valley floor and it reminded me of those old cowboy movies, even more so now that I converted it to Black & White.

Monument Valley on the Utah, Arizona border was a favorite place for the famous John Ford who shot many movies in the valley which brought us many iconic images similar to this one of John Ford’s Point, Monument Valley on the Utah.
