Navajo National Monument preserves three of the most intact cliff dwellings of the ancestral Puebloan people (Hisatsinom). The Navajo people who live here today call these ancient ones Anasazi. While down on the valley floor at the Monument Valley National Park, you have ample opportunity to take some great photographs, hopefully this was one or the rock face.

I was out at Monument Valley on the Utah, Arizona border late last year and took this image while down on the valley floor and it reminded me of those old cowboy movies, even more so now that I converted it to Black & White.

Monument Valley on the Utah, Arizona border was a favorite place for the famous John Ford who shot many movies in the valley which brought us many iconic images similar to this one of John Ford’s Point, Monument Valley on the Utah.

We went on a small vacation to Monument Valley to see the sights. This is what you see as you drive up the Monument Valley Rd after turning off the 163 at the Monument Valley Tribal Park.

Lava Butte is a cinder cone located in central Oregon, USA, just west of US Highway 97 between the towns of Bend, Oregon, and Sunriver, Oregon. It is part of a system of small cinder cones on the northwest flank of Newberry Volcano, a massive shield volcano which rises to the southeast. The cinder cone is capped by a crater which extends about 60 feet deep beneath its south rim, and 160 feet deep from the 5,020 feet summit on its north side. Not far away from this iconic volcanic monument you will find the spectacular Crater Lake.
